Afternoon Tea With Nina Van Dort
On 3rd December 2005, the Malaysian Dutch Descendants Project met up with Nina Van Dort from Austria who was visiting Malaysia with her husband. The venue was at the home of Nina's cousin, Marcia Nicholas who had so kindly offered to host us. The setting was perfect and the surrounding was delightfully friendly and informal. ![]() The group enjoying tea with Nina. The topic for discussion was Ceylon Dutch Burgher genealogy. Nina explained to all that her work with her family's research lead her to find numerous links to other Burgher families originating from Ceylon. She also explained that although she did not have any children, her research was her own gift for members of her family to learn about their roots and their history.. Everybody there enjoyed themselves with the good company, sharing and discussions. Most of all, it was good to finally meet the person behind those e-mails. The only complain received was that the few hours with Nina was simply not enough! ![]() Nina Van Dort (4th from right, in black), Corinne Jansz, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse van den Driesen together with their daughters Stephanie and Sharmaine, Valerie Manen, Joy Merz Leembruggen, Peggy Moreira nee Leembruggen, Mr. Toft and his wife Barbara Toft nee Leembruggen who were visiting from England and Philomena Peterson and her two children.
