Queens Day celebrations

In The Netherlands, Queen's Day is celebrated on April 30th every year. It is the Queen's official birthday, and therefore a Dutch National Holiday. On Queen's Day, it is quite common for people to wear orange neckties and other attributes in orange. Orange is the colour of the Dutch royal house of Orange. For Dutch nationals in Malaysia, Queen's Day celebration is hosted by the Royal Netherlands Embassy at Kuala Lumpur on the same day.

In 2003, Queen's Day celebration was held at the Ballroom of the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It coincided with the Window on Holland event that took place at the KLCC. For the first time, also invited were participants of the Malaysian Dutch Descendants Project.

Queen's Day celebration in 2004 was held at the residence of the Ambassador and again, the participants of the Malaysian Dutch Descendants Project were invited to take part in the celebrations.
